North Quay is the area of Fremantle Port used for container shipping. Land at North Quay is used for container handling and general stevedoring activities.

P&O and Patrick operate facilities at North Quay under long-term leases from Fremantle Ports for the handling and storage of containers. Crane productivity rates at these terminals is above that of other Australian capital city ports. Both parties have made significant investments in these areas to provide modern container handling facilities.

The two container terminals are located at Berths 4-10 and together provide 1100m of heavy duty berth for container shipping. These berths have a depth of 13m.

General stevedoring is undertaken by P&O, Patrick and Western Stevedores.

In addition to the container terminals, North Quay provides 811 metres of common user wharf at berths 1/2 and 11/12. These berths provide a design depth of 11 metres, have good road access and are fitted with all utilities. Berth 11/12 are heavy duty. Berth 1 is serviced by a 300 tonne S.W.L pedestal crane.

Planning continues to ensure good road and rail access to North Quay. The Inner Harbour Port Development Plan, which addresses issues such as long-term land use and infrastructure links, is available by clicking here.
