Fremantle Ports raised about $3,000 for the Starlight Children's Foundation at a successful breakfast attended by more than 200 staff, tenants, other representatives of the port community, family and friends on Thursday 29 March.
The sausage-sizzle breakfast was held to kick start fundraising and get everyone in a ‘purple’ mood for the Starlight Purple Haze Game on Saturday afternoon (31/3/07).
Fremantle Ports has once again taken up the role of anchor sponsor for the Starlight Purple Haze Game, the proceeds of which are used to help seriously ill children and hospitalised children in WA through the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Chief Executive Officer Kerry Sanderson said Fremantle Ports was proud to be associated with two such outstanding and successful organisations as the Fremantle Football Club and the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
“This is our second year as anchor sponsor and it’s a sponsorship we particularly enjoy,” Kerry Sanderson said.
“With the Fremantle Football Club, the Starlight Children's Foundation and businesses associated with Fremantle Ports, we raised more than $38,000 last year, which was a record, and we are hoping to raise more this year.”
The highlight of the breakfast, held in bracing conditions at a port workshop, were visits from Fremantle players Aaron Sandilands, Des Headland, Ryan Murphy and Chris Tarrant, and senior coach Chris Connolly, who announced the winners of the ‘Haze Your Business’ competition.
Those businesses with windows/shop fronts judged best dressed in purple were the City of Fremantle Library (1st), hairdressers Beyond the Fringe (2nd) and Bindoon Boots (3rd).
About 120 Fremantle Ports staff, family and friends will be rattling the tins at Subiaco Oval on Saturday before Fremantle plays Port Adelaide.
