Alan Birchmore, former Chairman of the Albany Port Authority, has been appointed Chairman of Fremantle Ports.
Mr Birchmore's appointment follows the stepping down of Joe McKay, who was first appointed to the Fremantle Ports Board of Directors in 1995.
Mr McKay served as Chairman for three and a half years and was Deputy Chairman for seven years.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said Mr McKay had been a key to the development and growth of Fremantle Port, one of Australia's best performing ports.
She said Mr Birchmore would bring a wealth of knowledge to the role when he commenced this month.
