Fremantle Ports is presenting a FotoFreo Fringe exhibition from 4 April by highly regarded photographer Roel Loopers titled "A Day in the Life of Fremantle Ports".
The exhibition is of recent images of people and shipping scenes taken by Roel at Fremantle's Inner Harbour, Kwinana Bulk Terminal and Kwinana Bulk Jetty.
Roel has been photographing the working port for many years and knows the port well. The exhibition comprises 21 stunning photographs from hundreds of superb photos he has taken in the past five months.
A Day in the Life of Fremantle Ports is photo-reportage that shows the round-the-clock activity of the Inner Harbour and the Outer Harbour.
The Port of Fremantle is a vital trading gateway linking Western Australia with the rest of the world. This exhibition shows the vibrant, ever-changing face of the port. It is about hands-on work and modern technology, from the tiny line boats to the huge container vessels, cruise liners and car carriers.
Dutch-born Roel Loopers started his career as a press photographer in Germany working for daily newspapers and press agencies before migrating to Australia in 1982. He established his commercial photo business Profile Photography in Perth in 1984, specialising in mining, corporate, public relations, architecture and industrial photography.
Roel has exhibited his fine art photography extensively in Australia and Europe, in solo and group shows, and is represented in many corporate and private collections around the world.
The exhibition is on at Fremantle Ports administration building foyer on Victoria Quay at 1 Cliff Street, Fremantle. It is open to the public on weekdays from 8am to 5pm from 4 April 2008.
